it's the word!

Oh. My. God.

Last night, my darling children performed for an audience of 450 people.

It was, in fact, incredible, so all the not sleeping and the crying and the stressing out over a stupid wooden car was all for naught, really.

450 people.

When we were in High School and active in the Drama program, we were stoked if our audience was hovering around the 100 range...but 450 people? At our school? To see a show? ON A THURSDAY NIGHT?!?!

Maybe it's the popularity of the show; maybe some of the kids' parents bought groups of 20 tickets or something...but 450 people...wow.

I stood in the back of the auditorium with my mouth dropped open for the entire first act...this, I thought, this was a SHOW. A real show, not just like a crappy high school musical, but for REAL show like all those other high schools that had better equipment and costumes and better music and everything we've never had. We had a pit band and t-shirts and real, honest-to-goodness tickets and ...

it was all cancelled for the next two days because of the snow and ice.

So we have to make it up next Thursday and Friday. We're minus a guitar player and a music director on Friday, but we'll make it work. We'll lose some momentum, but man...

it was beautiful, and my tears have not stopped since last night...not stressed, crazy tears, but tears of pride.

Goddamn those kids were awesome.
