happy birthday, fiestada

A love poem to Fiestada, my heterolifemate:
daisy petals fall and announce the clove of seasons
but we're not daunted because
we
can find solace in this couch
we inhale cancer clouds and talk about the death
of our relationships
but is it any wonder that,
like a lightswitch through a Michaelangelo postcard,
we're still friends now?
if the world is too much for either of us
we can still play cards
flip them over to tell our fortunes
and laugh that it took us so long
no matter what changes: our names or our taste for early 90s gangsta rap or the things that we shouldn't find funny but do anyway,
at the end of the day
you can still complete
this sentence.
I love you, darling. Happy Birthday!
